Congressional Outreach
As a service provider, your understanding of the daily challenges facing working families makes you an important resource for your elected officials. Consequently, your legislators can be a strong advocate for your program in providing increased access to resources and supporting legislation that improves the financial security of low-income workers and their families. NCTC can help you as you prepare to contact your Members for the first time.
Know Your Congressperson
You should not only know who represents you in Congress, you should also be aware of what committees they serve on and how, if at all, they've supported NCTC policy priorities in the past. The more you know about your legislators, the more comfortable and confident you'll feel when you make a call, write a letter or meet with them and their staff.
Contact Your Congressperson
Reaching out to your Congressperson for the first time can be intimidating. But elected officials and their staffers want and need to hear from you! NCTC will provide you with tips on calling your Congressional offices, writing your Members, and preparing for face-to-face meetings.
Build the Partnership
Relationships with your Members of Congress and their staff can strengthen overtime into a truly reciprocal relationship. NCTC is committed to supporting you as you develop these strategic relationships with our Annual Calendar for Congressional Communication, comprehensive EITC Outreach toolkits, and much more!
