Each year, over 20 million tax filers file a Schedule C: Profit of Loss from Business for sole proprietorships. Of those, over half (60%) have adjusted gross incomes under $50,000 and for nearly one-quarter (23%), that self-employment net profit enhances their Earned Income Tax Credit. While a significant share of Schedule C filers report incomes that fall within VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program scope, most are not eligible to access this important service because the Schedule C form is out of scope for VITA.

Schedule C Pilot Training

NCTC and SETI, in partnership with the IRS, have created a pilot program to aid in the delivery of Schedule C tax preparation through a select group of VITA programs. During the upcoming second year of the pilot, NCTC took on the task of developing a universal training, for the selected pilot organizations to utilize in conjunction with actual classroom time.

*The Schedule C Pilot training is only available for those participating in the pilot.
