VITA Grantees - Lets Celebrate
The IRS recently announced the 2011 VITA Grant Recipients. Congratulations to all those that received grants this year! Under the VITA Grant Program, the IRS awarded over $11 million in matching grants to 177 organizations. Now it's time to to celebrate with a picture contest!
Under the VITA Grant Program, the IRS awarded over $11 million in matching grants to 177 organizations for the 2011 tax season. NCTC thanks the IRS for their continued support of Community VITA and their administration of this much needed grant program.
This year’s appropriation was larger thanks to an increase in FY2010 funding from Congress (from $8 million to $12 million). We especially want to thank Senator Bingaman, a long time supporter of Community VITA, who championed efforts to gather support for increased funding.
However, as in past years, the IRS received an overwhelming number of grant requests from the VITA field. Over 374 organizations submitted applications requesting more than $33 million in matching funds. NCTC is working with our Members of Congress to ensure that the VITA Grant Program receives increased funding and much need authorization. Learn more about our efforts to authorize the grant program.
So we want to celebrate this moment, while raising awareness of this important grant program. What better way to raise awareness and have some fun than a photo contest?
We are asking that grantees post their celebratory photo to the NCTC Facebook page. The winning photos will be featured on our website accompanied by a profile of how programs plan to invest the funds.
Have Fun and Congratulations!
