IRS Releases Latest Data on e-Filing and Direct Deposit
Updates for November 2010 reveal an 8 percent increase in e-filing over 2009 for both overall individual returns filed as well as home computer e-filing. As the IRS’ release states, "IRS e-file is no longer the exception; now it is the norm."
The latest report on e-file and direct deposits of refunds reveals a slight rise in the percentage of taxpayers electing to receive their refunds through direct deposit. Through the week ending November 5, 2010, slightly less than 74.5 million tax filers chose to receive their refunds through direct deposit comprising approximately 68 percent of all refunds, an increase of 2 percent from this time last year.
