Our History
In 2002, NCTC was created due to the foresight of 22 leaders in the free tax preparation field who saw the need for a unified voice on tax policies and practices, as well as the need for technical assistance and training. NCTC is currently housed under the Center for Economic Progress in Chicago, IL where it continues to achieve its mission of improving the economic well being of low- and moderate-income individuals, families, and communities by building a movement to dramatically increase access to tax credits and benefits and asset-building opportunities.
